Bay College teaches the Cambridge International curriculum. This means that students write IGCSE exams at the end of grade 10 and (until 2010) HIGCSE exams in Grade 12. From 2011 onwards the Grade 12 exam will change to AS (Advanced Subsidiary).
The curriculum is designed by Cambridge University in England and the exams are set and marked there. It is a system which has been successfully taught all around the world and is internationally recognized. South African universities see it as a more rigorous set of exams than the National Senior Certificate and award higher points for equivalent passes in the Cambridge system.
